OUR EXECUTIVE TEAM

MICHELLE REID
CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Michelle joined Merthyr Valleys Homes (MVH) in April 2019, having worked for the previous five years as the Chief Executive of Cynon Taf Community Housing Group. Michelle has a wealth of experience in housing and has spent a large portion of her working life in housing related roles.

Having held three previous CEO positions and many senior positions across housing, health and social care, Michelle is no newcomer to leadership. She leads based on her values and is a strong advocate of working with people to create opportunities and unleash potential.

Michelle is passionate to make a difference and she believes in the power of communities to create and sustain meaningful change.

LORRAINE OATES
DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Lorraine is CIPFA qualified and was the Group Accountant at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council from 2003 to 2009. The latter part of this time was spent working on the stock transfer. She transferred to Merthyr Valleys Homes (MVH) in March 2009 as Finance Manager.

Lorraine was promoted to Director of Finance and Resources in 2011. Her remit covers Finance, IT and Human Resources. She has overseen the strengthening of MHV’s financial position and has represented MVH in setting up a joint Internal Audit Service – Barcud Shared Services – with Valleys to Coast, Bron Afon and NPT Homes, which won the award for Delivering Efficiency and Value for Money at the CIH Welsh Housing Awards in 2013. Lorraine is also keen to promote transparency and value for money in the organisation, involving tenants and staff in the full budget setting process for MVH.

Lorraine’s interests include travelling, eating out, cooking and going to the cinema.

STACY THOMAS
DIRECTOR OF HOMES AND PLACES

Stacy joined Merthyr Valleys Homes (MVH) in July 2019 from Tai Calon where she was the Director of Assets & Property. Having previously worked as a Director, Head of Asset Management and of Property Services, she has a great deal of experience in leading service transformation projects and the introduction of new strategies. Stacy covers Asset Management, Development, compliance, repairs and maintenance and operational support.

Stacy is all about the culture and behaviours of an organisation and is passionate about ensuring the tenant experience is at the heart of the way the service is delivered and supports her teams to put the tenants first.

MARIA LEWIS
DIRECTOR OF HOUSING & COMMUNITIES

Maria has had a long career in social housing in Merthyr holding a number of roles in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council before transferring to Merthyr Valleys Homes in 2009 as the Housing Manager. Maria was promoted to Head of Housing in 2012, Assistant Director of Housing & Communities in 2019 and to Director of Housing & Communities in November 2023. Maria is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and has a degree in Housing Studies.

Maria is passionate about delivering excellent services to our tenants in line with our mutual values and sustaining zero evictions into homelessness.
