What experience do you need?

You already have all the experience you need. As a tenant or leaseholder, you are experiencing our services first hand. This experience is what we are looking for to help our services go from good to great.

What support will you get?

Our experienced and friendly teams here at MVH are here for you. We can offer training and support if you feel you would benefit from it, but this is different for everyone. Try before you join! You're always more than welcome to watch what goes on, by observing meetings first.

How much time does it take?

There are lots of opportunities to suit everyone, whatever your circumstances. To help you decide the right activities for you we've put time indicators against each one. This gives you a rough idea how much time you could spend on that option. These are split into three categories:

Opportunity Knocks

Join our mailing list to hear about opportunities via email every 2 months.
From time to time we may want to delve deeper into a particular subject area. To do this, we ask tenants to contribute to a handful of discussions in an informal setting with a structured format.

Fill in a handful of short online surveys a year.

Get involved without leaving the house.

Discussing Developmentss

Our development programme is growing. When we are building new homes, we work alongside communities to understand the things that matter to them. Be one of the first people we speak to if and when we build new homes in your area.

Join one of our groups or forums

Democratic Body

As a mutual, we are different. Our Democratic Body is made up of tenants and colleagues, and all are Members (See Membership on the next page) of MVH. They make strategic decisions which affect the organisation and Merthyr as a whole.

Grants and sponsorship

This panel allocates funding from MVH to various community groups and individuals, ensuring communities are able to lead on making improvements to their local area or a positive contribution to a worthy cause.

Climate Group

This group (made up of tenants and MVH colleagues) helps to ensure we continuously challenge ourselves to create a greener, more sustainable Merthyr.

Membership

Becoming a member means you are a shareholder of MVH. Join other members who have an enhanced say in the running of the business and access a range of exclusive Membership benefits.

Annual Members’ Meeting

Every year we hold an event to showcase our achievements and set out our future path. Help us to arrange this flagship event with some informal discussions to gather your views.

We hold various community events across Merthyr throughout the year. To be involved in your area.
